Talk and workshop on landscape aesthetics

Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery, Parkinson Building, University of Leeds 2-4pm, Saturday 19 February Free

In connection with the New Arcadian Journal display in the Education Room, I will introduce my Yorkshire-based projects including A Guide to Yorkshire Rivers and the Humberside/Rhine Delta coastal study High Tide. Making reference to the landscape aesthetics of Jay Appleton (The Experience of Landscape, 1975) and my own mystery tour conducted on a 36 bus (part of the Harewood House/PSL residency Transported, 2009) I will lead a short trip to the magical and hidden St George’s Field (5 minute walk from Gallery) after which participants are invited to further explore the landscape theme by creating miniature landscapes on plates in the Gallery. Basic materials will be provided, but please bring a dinner plate if convenient, and any particular accessories you would hope to include. The gardens will be professionally photographed at the end of the afternoon.
